Linda Richards Hook, 80, of Cloverport, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 18, 2024. She was born on September 3, 1944, to the late Johnnie L and Ethel Richards. Her primary interests were her family, her church, quilting, and travel. Linda went above and beyond to make holidays special for her family, diligently planning the menu and all the special touches to make holidays together some of their most cherished memories. She was very active in church ministries, leading several bible study groups and Sunday school, tending to the church library, and creating a quilting ministry. Linda started quilting nearly 40 years ago, and made numerous beautiful quilts for family and friends over the years, as well as gifting several to charity. She was grateful for the opportunity to visit all 50 states, and greatly enjoyed her many trips with family and friends. As an avid reader, she was always seeking and giving book recommendations.
Her laughter and quick wit will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her. The list of friends is certainly long, as she rarely met a stranger. Sunday school and quilting friends were frequent visitors in Linda’s home. The family would be remiss if they did not thank friends Sandy Basham and Janet Tabor, who brought food and friendship every week over the last year of her life.
In addition to her parents, preceding Linda in death are a grandson, Kristian Hook, and her siblings Launa Medley, Bob Richards, Dorothy Brown, and Bill Richards.
Surviving are her devoted husband of 64 years, Gene, children Kim (Greg) Ashby of Owensboro, Ky, and Steve Hook of Owensboro, Ky, grandchildren Kandace (Jason) Bright, Kirsten Eskridge, Rory Brown, and Kameron Hook (Summer), great-grandchildren Dylan Chain (Kaity), Lucy Bright, Marcus Bright, Weston Perkins, Langston Perkins, Sebastian Brown, and Knox Hook, and a great-great-grandson, Jasper Chain, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The service for Linda will be at 3:00 on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg, with visitation from 1:00 to 3:00.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Linda leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
