Mary Elizabeth Porter, 97, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at her home. She was born September 27, 1927 in Ohio County to the late Everett and Pearl Hoover Kendall. Mary was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and volunteered for over 20 years at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital. Mary played cards with her two good friends, Ina and Mary, every Sunday.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Wayman “Webb” Porter; son, James Wayman Porter; and siblings, Dody Allen, Clyde Kendall, and J.L. Kendall.
She is survived by one daughter, Lu Ann Geary and her husband, Lee Roy, of Owensboro; two grandsons, James Wayman Porter, II of Hammond, Indiana and Ryan Lee Geary of Elizabethtown; two great-grandchildren, Kye Dylan Geary and Jimmy Porter III; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, November 18, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam, KY. Visitation is from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory.
