Muriel “Diane” Rafferty, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the age of 81, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born on February 6, 1943, to the late Harry (Poppa) and Virginia (Rene) Burden.
Diane graduated from Owensboro High School in 1961 and then went on to receive her Nursing Degree from Mid-State Baptist Health School of Nursing in 1964. She loved her career as a Registered Nurse. She cared for others for over 40 years working in hospitals, nursing homes, and finally the Carmel Home. Her time at the Carmel Home meant so much to her, and she recently had plans to make it her home, where she only asked to be brought apple pie, quiches, and chicken dumplings.
She is survived by her children, Laura Rafferty Jones and her husband Phillip; Patrick Rafferty and his wife Jodi; her grandchildren Erica Fancher Cain, Nicholas Fancher (Melisalyn), Madeline Rafferty, Max Rafferty, Bryson Jones; and her great-grandchildren Wyatt, Rylee, Piper and Charlotte. She loved her family and friends and deeply missed her best friend Annette.
She enjoyed playing cards with her “Card Ladies” and going to the symphony. She recently became a UK basketball fan and loved to watch MLB. She was a daughter, a sister, a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother. All of whom will miss her but will hold on to our sweet Nanny through all the great memories.
Services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the Chapel at Rosehill-Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory.
