
Hugh Ike Eaton 96, of Island, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Wellington Parc of Owensboro. Hugh Ike Eaton was born May 19, 1928 in Island, Kentucky to the late Almon S. and Lelah Everly Eaton and was married to the former Carma Elaine Bowman on September 27, 1952.
Hugh Ike was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and retired as a millwright from Green River Steel after 32 years of service. He was a member of Island Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the church choir and as treasurer.
Hugh Ike was also a member of the Island Community Development Association and was a 75 year member of Island Lodge F. & A.M. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Barkley with his wife and of course, eating the fish.
In addition to his parents, Hugh Ike was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Carma Bowman Eaton, who died October 31, 2011; by a granddaughter, Stephanie Dunn; by a great-granddaughter, Selah Wren Eaton; and by his brother, Leamon Eaton (Margaret).
Hugh Ike is survived by two sons, Martin Eaton (Marianne)and Roger Eaton (Carol) both of Island; two daughters, Melody Shocklee (David) of Island and Barbara Whitehead (Brad) of Owensboro; twelve grandchildren, Josh Shocklee (Jessica), Nathan Shocklee (Alex), Mason Cornell, Morgan Cornell (Micaela), Jason Dunn (Emma), Ashley Eaton (Nolan Johnson), Collin Eaton (Corie), Katie Edge (Curtis), Tanner Eaton (Katlyn Ward), Josh Whitehead (Jamie), Whitney Keown (Justin), and Zach Whitehead (Samantha); and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in the Island Baptist Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Hugh Ike’s family from 12:00 P.M. (noon) until 3:00 P.M. Thursday at Musters in Livermore. Masonic services will be at the beginning of Mr. Eaton’s funeral service.
