The Owensboro Symphony Chorus has named Patrick Ritsch as its new director. Ritsch brings years of choral experience and has been appointed to lead the volunteer group that has been part of the Owensboro Symphony since its first season in 1971-72.
Ritsch is the Director of Choral Activities and Music Education at Kentucky Wesleyan College, where he directs the choir, teaches music courses, and teaches voice. The choral program at KWC includes a variety of ensembles and opportunities for students to perform both on and off campus. He also serves as Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church in Owensboro.
Ritsch previously served as a choir director in North Carolina and Indiana, where he led multiple groups to gold ratings at the ISSMA District Organizational Contest and State Qualifiers.
“We are pleased to introduce a new director for the Symphony Chorus,” said Gwyn Payne, Chief Executive Officer of the Symphony. “Patrick brings an extensive background and considerable expertise to this role, and we eagerly anticipate our collaboration with him.”
The Owensboro Symphony invites new singers to join the chorus for its upcoming “Home for the Holidays” concert. Rehearsals have already begun and will continue every Tuesday until the concert. Practices are from 6:30-8 p.m. in Room 201 of the Barnard-Jones Administration Building at Kentucky Wesleyan College.

The Owensboro Symphony Chorus is sponsored by Dr. and Mrs. C. William Jansing.
