Virginia Lee Higdon, 87, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019 in Owensboro while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born November 14, 1931 in Daviess County, KY to the late Thomas Wesley and Lula Trunnell Davis. Virginia was a charter member of Bellevue Baptist Church. She loved her church and Sunday School class. She enjoyed watching TV, camping, swinging on her swing, and taking care of her rosebushes. But most of all, she loved being with her family and her dogs.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lester Z. Higdon; and eight siblings.
Survivors include her daughter, Lee Ann Murphy (late David Murphy); sons, Steven Higdon (Susan) and Thomas L. Higdon (Donna C.); 10 grandchildren, Toni Jones (Brian), Brad Higdon, Lauren Higdon, Wesley Higdon, McKenzie Higdon, Zachary Murphy, Michelle Smith (Danny), Amy Boyd, Nicole Kays, and Meghan Roberts (Jacob); 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Bellevue Baptist Church, Owensboro. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at the church. James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
