In a pair of City-County matches, Apollo swept Owensboro, while Owensboro Catholic took down Daviess County. McLean County fell in their match, while Trinity overcame Henderson County.

Apollo 3, Owensboro 0

Avery Gray finished with a team-high 11 kills and added seven digs and a service ace in the E-Gals 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-22) sweep over Owensboro. Maddi Roberts finished with 14 assists and seven digs, while Jessie Pate recorded 15 digs and two service aces.

“Owensboro is one of the top teams in our region and a very tough opponent,” Apollo head coach Mary Howard said. “Our girls maintained a high level of energy and focus all night long. We served with high accuracy which allowed us to overcome deficits in the first and third sets.”

For the Lady Red Devils, Anna Travis led the team in assists and digs with 21 and 11, while Ava Fincher finished with a team-high 10 kills.

“The first two sets Apollo did a good job of keeping pressure on us and we just made too many errors,” Owensboro head coach Melissa Hibbs said. “The third set we came out more like us, but couldn’t execute at the end.”

Ohio County 3, McLean County

Addy Kirby led the Lady Raiders with six kills and two blocks, but it wasn’t enough as they fell 3-0 to Ohio County. Rachel Roberts added seven digs, two kills, and two blocks.

“The Lady Cougars always play with a never give up attitude and tonight was no exception,” McLean County head coach Traci Capps said. “It didn’t end up in our favor, but they continue to fight.”

Owensboro Catholic 3, Daviess County 0

Olivia Castlen finished with a team-high 16 kills and added eight digs and four service aces in the Lady Aces 3-0 (25-12, 25-9, 25-22) sweep over Daviess County. Reese Keller recorded 30 assists, three service aces, three digs, and one kill while Andi Davis finished with 15 digs and two service aces.

“This puts us at 5-0 in district play and 13-3 on the season,” Owensboro Catholic head coach Brian Hardison said.

Trinity 3, Henderson County 0

Caroline Hall recorded 24 digs and four service aces, while Emily McDaniel finished with seven kills in the Lady Raiders 3-0 win over Henderson County. Kenzie McDowell added 19 assists and six blocks.

“I am extremely proud of my Lady Raiders tonight,” Trinity head coach Brooke Hall said. Junior Gracie Mills and senior Emily McDaniel had serving runs that were critical for us and gave us the momentum to keep going and finish it in three. Henderson County is also a very large school so it meant a lot to our girls to compete and win against them.”
