SOFTBALL RECAPS
Apollo 14, South Spencer 9
The E-Gals (7-9) used a six-run fifth inning to pull away and earn a road win over South Spencer. Keely Eans homered and added a double in the 13-hit day for Apollo.

Eans went 3-for-5, scoring twice and driving in two. Also leading the offense were Hallie Wilson (3-for-5, 4 RBIs, double) and Lauren Whitehouse (2 hits, run, 2 RBIs). Aubrey Little doubled and drove in two runs, while Brooke Brown scored three runs. Madison Shemwell, Abbie Gore and Morgan Julian each scored twice.

Madison Julian got the win in 3.0 innings of work and gave up three runs on three hits, while Eans and Emmie Bullington each threw two innings.

Trinity 8, McLean County 6
The Lady Raiders (5-11) won their third straight after taking an early lead at home against McLean County. They plated three runs each in the first and third innings and were able to hold on the rest of the way.

Nina Wathen and Katherine Hibbitt each doubled and drove in a pair of runs. Hibbitt, Savannah Aull and Cassidy Morris each recorded two hits, while Brittany Booker and Josie Aull each scored twice.

Hibbitt pitched a complete game in the win, allowing eight hits and striking out four.

Ohio County 17, Owensboro 2 (4 innings)
The Lady Devils (2-13) scored two runs in the first inning but the lead was short-lived, as Ohio County scored 11 in the bottom of the frame and rolled to a win.

Molly Hudson had two hits and Aubrie Schueler had one for Owensboro, while Aubry Hendricks and Emma Kingsley crossed the plate. Schueler took the loss, allowing 10 runs on 6 hits in 2.2 innings.

BASEBALL RECAPS
Owensboro 5, Union County 2
The Red Devils (11-7) avenged an early-season home loss by traveling to Union County to pick up a win. Owensboro went in front with a run in the first and another in the third, eventually holding a 5-0 lead before the Braves scored in the seventh inning.

Nick Belcher threw 6.1 innings in the win, striking out 15 batters and giving up two runs on two hits. He also led the team with two hits and three RBIs. Braxton French and Tucker Hagan each scored twice and Austin Gough scored once.

Henderson County 12, Apollo 2 (6 innings)
The Eagles (8-11) dropped their sixth game in a row with a road loss to Henderson County. Full stats were not available. Apollo returns to action today when they travel to Breckinridge County.


Hancock County 15, Trinity 5 (5 innings)
The Raiders (3-12) fell behind 9-0 after one inning and were never able to recover in a road loss to Hancock County. All of Trinity’s runs came in the third frame.

Landon Huff and Kevin Foster each had a pair of hits, while Mason Mattingly had a triple and two RBIs. Matthew Mills took the loss after allowing 12 runs on 12 hits through 2.2 innings.

TENNIS RECAPS
Owensboro 6, Grayson County 3 (boys)
The Red Devils got an important win on the road against Grayson County. Singles winners were Dylan Mather, Paul Iracane, Mitchell Douglas and Grayson McFarland, and doubles victors were Paul Iracane/Will Clark and AJ Iracane/McFarland.


Daviess County 9, Muhlenberg County 0 (boys)
The Panthers earned a sweep on the road with nine largely dominant victories. Singles winners were George Hulse, Chris Salamah, Dylan McDuffee, Camden Clark, Ryota Takashi and Andy Peeples. Doubles wins came from Salamah/McDuffee, Clark/Takashi and Graham Sandefur/Luke McClelland.


Owensboro Catholic 4, Meade County 1 (girls)
Meade County 5, Owensboro Catholi 0 (boys)
The Lady Aces nearly swept the day at Moreland Park, while the boys’ team failed to pick up a win. Singles victors for the girls were Sarah Kate Young and Reagan Fulkerson, and doubles winners were Sarah Englert/Ashley Fulkerson and Alyssa Gatten/Olivia Hayden.


Apollo 5, Cloverport 0 (girls)
Apollo 8, Cloverport 1 (boys)

The E-Gals swept their matches at Owensboro Tennis Complex, while the boys nearly did the same. The girls got singles wins from Anna Hyland and Natalie Estes, and a doubles victory came from Lauren Clements/Lynzy Schwartz. Two other wins came by default.

For the Eagles, singles winners were Ryan Ash, Michael Chapman and Chris Cox. Doubles victors were Ash/Chapman and Stephen Austin/Cox. The others wins came by forfeit.
