Apollo shut out Owensboro, while McLean County and Owensboro Catholic both fell short.

Apollo 3, Owensboro 0

Ava Fazio recorded a team-high 10 kills and also added three blocks as Apollo swept Owensboro on the road 3-0 (27-25, 25-22, 25-19). Jessie Pate and Kadi Daughtery both led the team in digs with 10 each, while Jessica Lee finished with 19 assists. Kadi Daughtery led the way with five service aces.

“It was a very hard-fought match tonight,” Apollo head coach Mary Howard said. “Each set, our girls overcame adversity to find a way to come out on top. In the first two sets, we fought to come back from behind. Owensboro was very aggressive with their serves and offensively, which kept us a little off balance at times, but the girls were able to make plays at key moments.”

For the Lady Devils, Addie Travis led the team in kills with 10 and added six digs while Anna Travis finished with 12 assists and three digs. Macey Kahn recorded a team-high nine digs.

“I thought we came out of the gate very aggressive tonight against a very strong Apollo front line,” Owensboro head coach Melissa Hibbs said. “In the end, we made too many unforced errors and errors behind the service line and Apollo capitalized on them.”

Muhlenberg County 3, McLean County 0

Addy Kirby led the Lady Cougars with four assists, three kills, and a block in their 3-0 loss to Muhlenberg County. Rachel Roberts finished with three kills and four digs.

Castle (Newburgh), IN 3, Owensboro Catholic 0

Tyranda Stuart and Olivia Castlen led the Lady Aces with four kills each as they fell to Castle 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-8). Mayme Powell recorded a team-high 10 assists, while Andi Davis finished with 10 digs and three service aces.
