Arthur Hale

Arthur Hale, 94, of Owensboro went to his heavenly home on Friday, April 19, 2019. He was born July 10, 1924 in Daviess County to the late Elizabeth Oldham and John M. Hale. He owned and operated A L Hale’s grocery in Philpot, KY. Arthur was a Kentucky Colonel and became a Daviess County Deputy Sheriff in 1958 and served until 1966. Arthur was then elected and served two terms as Daviess County Jailer where he was awarded Jailer of the Year for the State of Kentucky. He later retired as fire marshal for the State of Kentucky. Art was a regular at McDonald’s breakfast group at Wesleyan Park Plaza. He was a proud Kentucky Wesleyan College basketball fan and traveled with the Panther Express to the games. He was an ordained deacon and member of First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Maverick Class. Arthur was a Christian and lived his faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Martha Virginia Gillim and Betty Sue Yeiser.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mildred Melhiser Hale; daughter, Beth Hale (Carl) Worthington; son, David A. (Julie) Hale; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his brother, Murray O. (Judy) Hale of Owensboro.

A celebration of life will be at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. Paul Strahan and Rev. Bob Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
