Owensboro swept Daviess County in 9th District action, while Trinity earned a win and Hancock and Mclean fell short in Tuesday’s matches.

Owensboro 3, Daviess County 0

The Lady Devils put everything together Tuesday night as they swept Daviess County 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-18).  

Sisters Addie and Anna Travis led the charge for Owensboro. Addie finished with 14 kills, eight digs, two blocks, and two aces, while her sister recorded 10 kills, 21 assists, five digs, and a block. Rose Larsen led the teams in digs with 10.

“I thought we really came out with a lot of energy and focus,” Owensboro head coach Melissa Hibbs said. “We had a goal of playing aggressive tonight and I think the girls did a good job of executing that.”

Union County 3, McLean County 1

Addy Kirby led the Lady Cougars with 13 kills, 10 digs, and two blocks as they fell to Union County 3-1. Rachel Roberts finished with seven kills and 14 digs, while Abbi Shivers had 11 assists, 12 digs, and five kills.

“They played great volleyball, but still fell short of a win,” McLean head coach Traci Capps said. “I always have to remember how young my varsity team is. Most of my team is sophomores.”

Breckinridge County 3, Hancock County 0

Trinity 3, Ohio County 2

Addison Mills and Caroline Hall finished with a team-high 12 kills and 31 digs respectively, as the Lady Raiders edged out Ohio County 3-2.

“It was a tight match against Ohio County,” Trinity head coach Brooke Hall said. “Our serves came in handy tonight. Kenzie McDowell led with five service aces. Ohio County is not to be underestimated. They run a fast offense and they didn’t let us get too comfortable… It was really a team effort and I am proud of our girls.”
