Owensboro boys’ golf finished 2nd in a field of 25 teams on Saturday at the Graves County Invitational.

OHS finished with a 296, four strokes behind 1st-place McCracken County. Leading the way for the Red Devils was Will Hume with a 71 — good for third individually.

Will Rickard, Jax Malone, and Nolan Warren rounded out the top four for Owensboro, shooting a 74, 75, and 76 respectively. Cole Crews shot an 83.

“I was happy with the guys today. Shooting 296 on a course none of them had ever seen before was a positive sign,” Owensboro head coach Pat Hume said. “We were always trying to break 300 and now the new goal is 290. Nolan and Jax are usually leading us and recently we have been getting solid performances from Will Rickard, Will Hume, and Cole Crews. That competition to be the low scorer on our team is making them all better players. They are all great friends, but they all want to beat each other. That’s what makes our team stronger in the long run.”
