At the Paducah Tilghman Invitational, Daviess County boys golf finished fourth, edging Owensboro Catholic by one stroke 322 to 323. Marshall County finished first, shooting 303. Grant Broughton led the way for Daviess County, shooting a 75 and finishing 6th in the individual. Owensboro Catholic’s Luke Estes tied for seventh, shooting 76.
“I feel we are improving, but we have to eliminate mistakes,” Daviess County head coach Lars King said. “We had too many doubles to compete as a team.”
Daviess County’s Collin Reynolds and Logan Mewes both shot 82, while Walker Ferguson (83) rounded out the top four scores for the team. John William Wathen (78), Houston Danzer (82), and Hayden Crabtree (87) scored for Owensboro Catholic.
Over in the girls’ tournament, Daviess County’s Claire Reynolds entered as an individual and tied for second, shooting a 75.
“She played great,” coach Brandon Reynolds said. “She had 1 bad swing that resulted in a double, but she has been playing really good golf this season.”
