Willard David Thomas, Jr., age 63 of Custer, KY passed away August 6, 2024 at Norton Hospital. He was born in Hardinsburg, KY on July 5, 1961, son of the late Willard David Thomas, Sr, and Betty Franklin West Thomas. David was a member of Custer Masonic Lodge # 624, where he twice served as Master. He was a farmer, rode motor cross, played football and hunted hickory chickens and ginseng. David and his wife were the owners of Extra Storage Space Rental Units in Elizabethtown, KY. He was the former owner and operator of Custer General Store and The Feed Barn Restaurant. The Custer area was full of life and laughter during business hours and David enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new ones. David was a kind, generous, respectful, soft spoken and loving husband, Dad, Papaw and brother. He loved and was loved by his family and they will miss him terribly, but will also smile, share memories and laugh when remembering him.
David is survived by his wife Vickie Pence Thomas of Custer, KY
Three children: Drew Thomas of Custer, KY; Annie Thomas Wilson (Cody) of Shepherdsville, KY and Emma Thomas Hardman (Logan) of Hardinsburg, KY
Four grandchildren: Jayse, Josie and Jett Hardman and Remington Wilson
Two sisters: Libby Bryan and Sarita Dowell (Keith) of Custer, KY
Two nieces and One nephew: Jennifer Metcalfe (Travis), Tom Dowell and Allie Bryan
Two aunts: Karen Blancett (Charley) and Wilma Thomas who is the Matriarch of the family.
Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11 AM with burial in the Custer Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, 4-8 PM and Saturday after 8 AM. A Masonic Service will be held on Friday at 6 PM.
