A 33-year-old Owensboro man has been charged with multiple counts related to possession of child porn, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

OPD first announced a large police presence for the execution of a search warrant in the 800 block of Dornell Street just after 8 a.m. Thursday morning. They announced more details about the investigation just before noon.

According to OPD, the search warrant was the result of an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force investigation that was reported by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding child sexual abuse material.

Authorities said the investigation led to the identification of Brandon L. Lanham as the suspect in this case.

With assistance from the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch, OPD detectives arrested and charged Lanham with:

  • 1 count of Distribution of Matter Portraying Sex Performance by a Minor under 12 years of age
  • 5 counts of Distribution of Matter Portraying Sex Performance by a Minor over 12 years of age
  • 1 count of Possession of Matter Portraying Sex Performance by a Minor under 12 years of age
  • 3 counts of Possession of Matter Portraying Sex Performance by Minor over 12 years of age
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st degree (Methamphetamine) and Drug Paraphernalia

“Specially trained detectives from the Owensboro Police Department and Kentucky State Police serve on the ICAC task force and continue to target individuals who prey on children through these types of investigations. These types of investigations may lead to the identification of other child predators or additional charges,” the OPD release says. “… The Owensboro Police Department is committed to the safety of our community and protecting the most vulnerable.”
