The Post 9 Owensboro Bombers picked up three big wins the past two days. After defeating the Post 68 Aces from Lyon County 3-1 on Friday night, the Bombers blew out Oldham County 20-0 and Madisonville Post 6 10-0 on Saturday.

Saturday’s first win was the fifth in sixth outings, pushing the Bombers’ overall record to 13-9-1. The Bombers exploded out of the gate with 10 runs in the first and 10 more in the second to end the game on a mercy rule after three innings.

Braxton Franey picked up a no-hitter on the mound, allowing no runs on no hits in three innings of work.

Easton Blandford led all hitters with three, followed by Houston Flynn and Paxton Gardner with a pair each. Every player contributed to the win, with eight players entering the run column, including several who scored multiple times. Greyson Smith and Blandford each had three RBIs a piece.

The Bombers’ bats stayed hot in the second game, as the team jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. They followed with four more in the second and fourth to extend the game to 10-0 and end on another mercy rule.

Talan Cartwright and Blandford each had two hits, while Michael Chaney and Flynn both had doubles. Flynn, Blandford, and Mayes all scored double-digit runs.

Smith pitched a one-hitter shut-out in five innings on the hill. He fanned six batters and only walked two.

Friday was much closer. The Bombers struck first with two runs in the second, followed by one in the fourth. They surrendered one in the fifth to Post 68, but the damage was already done.

Noah Cook secured the win on the mound. He pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on three hits and totaling 7 strike-outs. Eli Blair was big at the plate with a game-high two hits. Eli DeBoer had the only double in the contest.
