Tavia Ann Mattingly

Tavia Ann Mattingly, age 85 of Hardinsburg, KY passed away July 4, 2024 at Hardinsburg Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Summer Shade, KY on October 6, 1938, daughter of the late Carl and Bessie Carter Dubree. Tavia was a member of Cloverport Church of Christ and Cloverport Homemakers. Tavia retired from the Breckinridge County Board of Education, where she worked for many years in the Hardinsburg Elementary School cafeteria. She not only cooked for and served lunches to many children in our county, but she also showed them love by her smile and an affectionate hug. She was an avid UK Wildcat and Breck. Co. Tiger fan. She enjoyed walking and put many miles on her tiny feet. Tavia’s family was her world and she loved having them with her, whether it be for holidays, sporting events or no reason at all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bernard, daughter and son-in-law Vera and Gary Kennedy, son John Mattingly, sisters Sylvia Maske and Teresa Ingram, sister-in-law Margie Dubree and brother-in-law John Powers.

Tavia is survived by 3 sons and their wives: Ronnie and Leila Mattingly of Harned, KY; Mickey and Cheryl Mattingly and Jeff and Tracy Mattingly of Hardinsburg, KY.

8 grandchildren: Sarah (Jeremy) Milam, Laura (Nathan) Woodard, Mary (Jessica) Goodin, Jennifer (Todd) Payne, Brooke (Chris) Coffman, Justin (Shannon) Mattingly, Bradley (Whitney) Mattingly, Brian Keith

18 great grandchildren: Ava, Adeline, Cora, Oliver, Penelope, Brandon, Kailey, Drake, Kyler, Ashton, Karson, Karter, Truett, Teller, Thatcher, Oliver, Max and Zach

3 brothers: Lawrence Dubree, Leonard Dubree, Ernie (Carol) Dubree of Hardinsburg, KY

1 sister: Dee Powers of Cloverport, KY

Brothers-in-law: Chip Ingram of South Carolina and Lonnie Maske of Alabama

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 11 AM with burial in the Cloverport Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, 4-8 PM and Monday after 8 AM.
