Jean Maddox, 91, of Owensboro passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born on July 27, 1932 in Martin County, KY to the late McClellon Horn and Hattie Goble Horn.
Jean was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church. She retired after 17 years of teaching business classes at Owensboro High School and Owensboro Catholic High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Dr. Noel “Buddy” Maddox, on November 5, 2021; and their only child, Kim Maddox Lavery, on November 27, 2023.
Survivors include her sister, Audrey Hall; nephews, Larry Ray, Steve Ray, and Kelly Ray; son-in-law, Tom Lavery; seven great nieces and nephews; four great great nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation is from 12:00-2:00 on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery on Monday.
