Daviess County will host its annual fireworks show tonight. This year, the show has moved from Panther Creek field to Yellow Creek. Here are all of the details.

Starting at 5 p.m. Yellow Creek Park will fill with food trucks and vendors, inflatables, petting zoo and music before the show kicks off at 8:45 p.m.

“We anticipate a large crowd. We’ve never done a fire show show before at Yellow Creek, but we want to invite the entire community out to be a part of it,” Director of Parks and Public Information Jordan Rowe said.

Any weather related changes will be made on the Facebook page before noon.

Even with the change, Outreach Coordinator Ross Leigh said the annual July 5th show will have the same appeal as previous years, and the larger space at Yellow Creek will allow for more activities.

“Yellow Creek Park is actually bigger than Panther Creek; it’s 152.5 acres. So we feel very confident about what we’re going to be able to present that night, and we’re anxious to see the size of the crowd that we’re going to have,” Leigh said.

The Eric Group, longtime partner, will be helping with the show. Ross said they plan to have a live band and other festivities to announce in addition to the fireworks.

The County Parks and Recreation Department was forced to move the event to Yellow Creek because a baseball tournament was booked that weekend.

The park just finished hosting ROMP Fest last weekend, and Leigh said the fireworks show will not occupy the large field typically used for ROMP. Instead, Leigh said they are planning how to use the water and natural design of the park to set up the grounds.

“We’ve tried to take advantage of the water areas that we’ve got for the public to be able to enjoy, and then, of course, the ROMP field has plenty of parking to use,” Leigh said.

Leigh said information for this year’s July 5th will continue to be announced as they get closer to the date.
