Matthew Ball and Branson Russell have partnered for a new venture, launching Superior Streetwear to offer vintage clothes and shoes.
The two had each been reselling on their own before crossing paths at a convention. Their passions blended well, with Ball a sneakerhead and Russell leaning more toward vintage clothing.
Though most of their experience was online reselling, the duo recently opened a physical store at 3032 Alvey Park Drive West, Suite 300.
“I really like the aspect of talking to people and helping them find something they’re interested in. There’s not really a place around like us where people can go and find this kind of clothing,” Ball said.
The suite is lined with clothes and shoes, which the two have collected over time from different conventions or online selling. Russell said he enjoys selling clothes that have a 1980s and 1990s aesthetic with some nostalgia to them.
Both say that when caring for their items, they are always working to ensure they present the best of their products. This will lead to cleaning and, at times, sewing to restore the integrity of the piece.
“It can take a long time to clean, like washing them, fixing holes if they’re there, but it’s worth it,” Russell said.
Both said that fees are often attached to the purchases when it comes to online reselling. These can take a purchase up to $50 to $100. Ball said that Superior Streetwear cuts out the fees associated with a purchase and makes it more direct.
“Instead of making them spend $100 more on shoes they wanted, they can come here and get them without going to StockX [or other places]. That’s essentially what I’m trying to do,” Ball said.
The business is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday. To contact Ball or Russell, visit them on Facebook here.
