Anthony D. “Tony” Hayden

Anthony D. “Tony” Hayden better known by his favorite name “Grumpy” passed away June 18, 2024, at the age of 68 in his favorite place, his man cave, surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice and Palliative care of Western Kentucky.

Tony married his high school sweetheart, Susan, 48 years ago and leaves behind a legacy of love and joy. Tony was always himself, strong-willed, outspoken, and down to earth, but underneath he was an old teddy bear that was soft-hearted and would turn to mush especially when it came to his pride and joy, his twin daughters, Ashley and Kimberly. He always talked about how lucky he was to be their dad and didn’t think anything could be better, but a close second was being “Grumpy” to his four grandkids. His heart was full of love and joy each time he was around them. Tony enjoyed watching NASCAR and being outdoors, especially if he was hunting, fishing, or playing golf.

He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Jane B. Hayden.

Those left to honor and cherish Tony include his wife, Susan Rowan Hayden; his daughters, Kimberly (John) Young and Ashley (Steven) Reddish; four grandchildren, Elijah Young, Reid, Hayden and Griffin Reddish; a second mom and dad, Marilyn and George Bratcher; a brother, Gary (Sarah) Hayden; two nieces, Tina (Russell) Hayden Baker and Dana Hayden Stanley; along with several grand nieces and nephew.

At Tony’s request, there will be a private celebration for the family to honor his life.

Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Anthony D. “Tony” Hayden.
