Venessia Carolyn Cravens, 79, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024 surrounded by her family at The Heartford House, under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. She was born on June 19, 1944, in Daviess County, to the late Jessie Jones and Raezella Mofield Jones. She attended and graduated from Daviess County High School. Venessia worked many years and retired from the Sterile Processing Department at the former Owensboro Hospital. A feisty personality with a loving soul Venessia lived every day to the fullest. She enjoyed volunteering with the Women’s Auxillary at the VFW Post 696. Gardening, planting flowers, sewing and singing Karaoke were some of her favorite pass times but above everything she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother Randall Jones; sisters, Alice Casey and Sandra Patton; and her daughter, Wendy Lou Burden.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Amanda Clark Jennings and Kelly Clark Arnold (Matt); grandchildren, Courtney Smeathers, Lindsey Jennings, Eric Clark, Zach Burden, Haley Clark, Chase Clark and Landon Wood; great-grandchildren, Presleigh Smeathers, Ryder Meade, Miller Meade, Denver Clark, and Harper Clark; son-in-law, Mike Burden; brothers, Herschel Jones and Jerry Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends who she considered family.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Ennichment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
