The Putt Putt Pub Crawl will return to downtown Owensboro for its 6th year on Saturday. Downtown businesses will construct a fun and creative putt-putt hole for participants to try as they move from spot to spot, all while raising funds for CASA of Ohio Valley.
Courtney VonGunten of Vizion Mortgage and her sister Natalie Anderson organize the event, adding something new each year. This year’s participants include Brew Bridge, Burger Theory, Brasher’s Lil’ Nashville, Don Mario, Fetta Specialty Pizza, Goodwood Brewing and Spirits, Lure Seafood and Grille, Mellow Mushroom, The Pub on Second, SIP Owensboro, and Vizion Mortgage.
“It always brings a smile to our faces to see the creative holes that each establishment puts together, the one-of-a-kind costumes that some teams come up with, and the friendships that form from people who maybe would never have met otherwise,” VonGunten said. “The green cup rule will apply so alcohol can be carried from hole to hole.”
She said the event is perfect for a putting pro or someone who just wants to enjoy the refreshments. Check-in and day-of registration begin at Lure at 11 a.m., and the event runs from noon to 4 p.m. Early registration is available online here.
Brew Bridge will host the afterparty, where the various winners will be announced. Prizes will be awarded to the team with the lowest score, the best-dressed team. As in years past, there will also be a surprise award. The event is open to anyone 21 and older for $20.
“It’s just a day full of fun and laughter and for people to come together for the community,” VonGunten said. “It really is beautiful to see local businesses and people unite to support the cause. We run strictly off donations from local businesses, and we couldn’t do it year after year without that support.”
The tournament operates on a shotgun start, with different teams starting at each hole. As they navigate the creative mini golf holes at each business, they can also enjoy several food and drink specials.
VonGunten said balls are provided, and participants can bring their own putters or use the ones provided.
“Get ready for a wild day of mini-golf and pub-hopping,” she said. “Join us for a fun-filled time of sinking putts, sampling food, and sipping drinks with friends.”
