Richard (Dick) Elder, 95, of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Signature Health Care at Hillcrest. He was born on March 18, 1929 in Daviess County to the late Henry and Mary Ernestine Elder. Dick was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving on active duty in the Korean War, and a long-time electrician and member of the IBEW Local 1701. He loved being with his grandsons, playing golf, and KWC Basketball.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie Nall Elder, and his nine brothers and sisters, Joe, Ed, Pearl, Earl, Ernestine, Henrietta, John, Walter, and Clarence.
His surviving immediate family members include his son, Tony Elder of Owensboro; daughter, Sherrie Anderson (Mike); grandsons, Justin Anderson (Kristin) and Ryan Anderson (Elisa); and a great-granddaughter, Evelyn.
Funeral Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Immaculate Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until noon on Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
