
James Edward Dennison, 87, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on July 23, 1936 in Owensboro to the late James Maxwell and Mary Elizabeth Dennison. He was retired from the City of Owensboro after 56 years and was an Army Veteran. James attended Owensboro Christian Church, Bellevue Baptist Church, and The Salvation Army. James was a KHSAA Basketball referee, umpired baseball, and was a lifeguard. He was an avid sports fan and loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Martha Fay Dennison; siblings, Mary Etta Dennison, Ann Cavender, Clara Estes, Virgil Dennison, Mackie Dennison, and Joe Dennison.
Survivors include two daughters, Selina Hagman (Paul Coomes) and Mitzi Howe (Daniel); three grandchildren, Jessica Bramschreiber (Nick), Bryce Hagman, and Addison Kilgore; one great grandson, Mason Bramschreiber; brother, Vernon Dennison; sister, Peggy Gray; and a special family friend, Sandy Mollett, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at Noon, Thursday, May 30, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory, officiated by Captain Stacey Connelly. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2024 and after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Military Honors.
