Eugene “Geno” Welch, 75, of Owensboro passed away May 19, 2024, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Daviess County on July 26, 1948, to the late Estelle and Bessie Welch. He was a retired truck driver and was in the Army and is a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post 9. Eugene loved to ride his motorcycle, watch NASCAR and westerns. His true enjoyment came from spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his sisters Joann Drigger and Carolyn Willaims and his brothers Junior Welch and Edward Oller.
Eugene is survived by his wife Debbie Gardner Welch, his daughters Tammy Welch Smith and Birdie; his grandchild Devon (Allison) Smith and great grandchildren Wyatt Smith and Teddy Smith; and his brothers Jerry Welch, Steven Swineford, and Larry Welch.
Services will be noon on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will take place at Rosehill-Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
