BASEBALL RECAPS
Owensboro 5, Bowling Green 4
The Red Devils (2-2) plated four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn a comeback win at home and hand the Purples (3-1) their first loss. Owensboro overcame five defensive errors that led to four unearned runs for Bowling Green.

The Purples went ahead with two runs in the top of the third, but Owensboro’s Braxton French scored on a sac fly in the bottom of the frame. Bowling Green scored two more in the top of the seventh.

Isaac Humphrey, Weston Hayden, Eric Epperson and French all crossed the plate for Owensboro to earn a second consecutive victory. French, Belcher and Tucker Hagan each had two hits. Belcher added three RBIs.

Trace Grenier got the win on the mound after two innings of work. He and starter Nick Belcher combined to give up eight hits and strike out five. Bowling Green’s Brady Key took the loss after pitching the final 1.2 innings.

Henderson County 11, Owensboro Catholic 6

The Aces (3-2) dropped a game on the road after the Colonels (3-1) pulled away with a five-run sixth inning.

Henderson County scored a pair of runs in both the first and second frames before Catholic responded with three in the third. With a 6-5 lead, the Colonels scored five to create separation and the Aces were only able to add a single run in the seventh.

Andrew Wiman (3-for-4, 2 RBIs) and Sam McFarland (2-for-4, 2 runs, RBI, double) led the offensive effort for Catholic, and Luke Evans homered. Everett Munsey scored twice. Finley Munsey went 1.2 innings and took the loss on the mound.

The Colonels tallied 12 hits and Lake Williams got the win in 4.1 innings of work.

Campbell County 12, Apollo 2 (5 innings)
Pleasure Ridge Park 9, Apollo 2
The Eagles (1-3) had a tough day during a pair of games played at Pleasure Ridge Park. Apollo found themselves in early deficits both times, falling to the Campbell County Camels (2-4) and PRP Panthers (3-1).

Against the Camels, Apollo trailed 9-0 heading into the fifth inning. They got a pair of runs when Jakob Helms and Nick Judd scored, but Campbell County got three in the bottom half for the win. Evan Hodskins doubled for the Eagles, and Dan St. Claire took the loss on the mound in 2.0 innings of work.

Against the Panthers, Apollo again trailed 9-0 after four innings. The Eagles got a run each in the fifth and seventh but could get no closer. Hodskins scored both runs. Max Holder had two hits, and Tommy Clark doubled. Judd pitched 3.1 innings and took the loss.

Trinity 14, Ballard Memorial 6
Crittenden County 2, Trinity 1
After falling in the seventh inning to Crittenden County (4-1), the Raiders (1-3) rolled past Ballard Memorial (0-5) for their first win of the season. Both games were played at Crittenden County.

Against the Bombers, the Raiders exploded for 11 runs in the third inning after falling behind 4-3. Landon Huff, Mason Mattingly, Briar Roberts and Matthew Mills each had two hits. Mills had three RBIs and two doubles and scored twice. Elijah Boarman added two RBIs, and Mason Mattingly scored three times.

Against Crittenden County, the teams each plated a run in the fourth inning before the Rockets walked it off with the late score. Owen Payne had two hits for the Raiders, and Eli Mattingly scored the lone run.

SOFTBALL RECAPS
Daviess County 12, Pinckneyville (Ill.) 0
McCracken County 7, Daviess County 2
The Lady Panthers (3-2) split a pair of games in the final day of the McCracken County Early Bird Tournament. After falling 7-2 to McCracken County (4-0), Daviess County easily got past Pinckneyville (Ill.) 12-0 to finish the day.

Against McCracken County, Daviess County scored two on a single by Cameron Hamilton in the first inning before the Lady Mustangs tied it up in the fourth with a solo homer. McCracken County then plated five in the sixth inning.

Daviess County outhit the Lady Mustangs nine to seven. Hamilton took the loss, allowing seven hits and seven runs over six innings and striking out four. Hamilton, Emma Young and Savanah Northern all had two hits, and Young had the team’s only double.

Against Pinckneyville, Hannah Clark and Greysee Whiteker combined for a shutout, giving up only two hits and a walk while striking out eight. Clark went five innings and got the win. Already leading 6-0 heading into the final inning, the Lady Panthers doubled their score in the seventh.

Sophie Simone, Northern and Sydney Howard all drove in runs in the frame, including a homer by Howard. Clark, Hamilton, Young, and Northern all had two hits for Daviess County. Northern had three RBIs, and both she and Abbie Newman scored twice.

Caldwell County 6, Owensboro Catholic 4
Christian County 6, Owensboro Catholic 2
The Lady Aces (2-2) dropped a pair of contests in a round robin at Christian County, falling to Caldwell County (1-2) and Christian County (5-0). Isabella Henning had a pair of homers in the first game, and Hannah Carter had one in the second game.

Against Caldwell County, Owensboro Catholic came back from a three-run deficit, but the Lady Tigers added three in the top of the seventh. The Lady Aces were only able to score once more in the bottom of the frame.

Isabella Henning homered twice and led the way at the plate with two hits, two runs and three RBIs. Danielle Henning and Bailey Simone each doubled. Lexi Hatchett took the loss, giving up three hits and striking out six over the final four innings.

Against Christian County, Owensboro Catholic got on the board first with a run in the second. Tied 2-2 through four innings, the Lady Colonels plated three in the fifth and added one more in the sixth.

Carter had a solo home run, Hadley Phelps had two hits, and Isabella Henning and Simone each doubled. Phelps pitched the entire game and took the loss after giving up five hits, five walks and a pair of homers while striking out three.

South Warren 12, Trinity 0 (5 innings)
Franklin-Simpson 6, Trinity 1
The Lady Raiders (0-8) couldn’t get much offense going in either game, falling to South Warren (5-0) and Franklin-Simpson (4-3) in the second day of the Franklin-Simpson Lady Cat Classic at Buchanon Park. Full stats were not available.


TENNIS RECAPS
Apollo 9, Webster County 0 (boys)
The Eagles dominated Webster County as they soared to a 9-0 victory at Moreland Park.

Singles winners included Stephen Austin (8-0), Ryan Ash (8-3), Michael Chapman (8-1), Chris Cox (8-0), Jude Ford (8-0) and Nathan Payne (8-1), and Ben Austin won an exhibition.

Doubles winners included Ash/Chapman (8-1), Cox/ Ford (8-5) and Austin/Payne (8-0), and Nick Shannon/Luke Austin won an exhibition.


Owensboro Catholic 4, Greenwood 1 (girls)
McCracken County 4, Owensboro Catholic 1 (girls)
Owensboro Catholic 3, McCracken County 2 (boys)
Paducah Tilghman 4, Owensboro Catholic 1 (boys)
The Owensboro Catholic teams split a pair of matches, with the girls competing at Greenwood and the boys at McCracken County.

Against Greenwood, the Catholic girls got singles wins from Reagan Fulkerson (6-3, 3-6, 1-0(7)) and Ella Grace Buckman (6-2, 6-4) and doubles wins from Sarah Englert/Ashley Fulkerson (6-0, 6-0) and Alyssa Gatten/Olivia Hayden (6-2, 6-2). Against McCracken County, Buckman picked up the only win (6-2, 6-2).

For the boys, wins against McCracken County came from Nick Boarman (6-0, 6-2) and Cooper Danzer (default) in singles and Brett Conder/Ethan Higdon (default) in doubles. The win against Paducah Tilghman came from the doubles team of Will Danzer/Davis Brocato (6-3, 1-6, 1-0(5))
