Landon Wayne Calloway

Landon Wayne Calloway, 67 of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born on September 17, 1956 in Owensboro. Landon worked in maintenance for Owensboro Public Schools. Wayne was a talented lifelong musician, singer, songwriter and arranger. He was particularly passionate about playing guitar in which he excelled tremendously. Down through the years Wayne played in various bands with his best friend, Michael “Train” Baize among others, who was an avid drummer. Wayne loved diverse genres of music, especially southern rock but had an extensive collection populated with the likes of Waylon Jennings, Nazareth, and AC/DC. He lived and breathed music and was a walking encyclopedia of rock history and music trivia. His love of music bled onto others who continue to carry on his tradition.

Wayne was the life of the party and could always be counted on for some quick comedy and dry witted humor. He had an infectious personality, a wonderful, boisterous laugh and a contagious smile. Wayne loved deeply, especially his family, and was a fierce protector of those he loved. Wayne was a huge sports fan and rarely missed a UK game. Lastly and most importantly, Wayne knew Jesus as his personal savior and was ready to “Go Home”. Wayne will be very deeply missed but the joy of anticipating a glad reunion, “The Blessed Hope”, continues to sustain us.

He is preceded in death by his father, Landon Calloway.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Bridget Calloway; mother, Cecelia Calloway; children, Lucas Calloway and Melissa Baggett (Ryan); step children, Jared Waylon, Candice Martin (Donnie), Sabrina Wilson (Jason), Jordan Whelan (Mandy Fuch), Jamie Whelan, Stephanie Collier (Brad), and Candice McCloud; grandchildren, Ben Baggett, Sam Baggett, Norah Calloway; siblings, Celia Lynn Reid and John Calloway.

Celebration of life will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation is from 10:00am until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend tremendous gratitude to Wayne’s caregiver, Sonya Stewart and also to the staff at Heartford House. Your love and support were invaluable.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301.
