E. Sue Burns, 88, formerly of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024 in Louisville. She was born December 18, 1935 in Auburn, Kentucky to the late Clifford and Marie Adams Mayhugh. Sue worked as a secretary for General Motors and was a member of Third Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, and sewing. As a woman of faith, Sue loved volunteering and serving others through her church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Neal Mayhugh.
Survivors include two sons, Drew Alan Burns (Angel) and Scott Taylor Burns (Christina); daughter, Beth Burns Yochum (Brian Lee); grandchildren, Katherine Elaine Yochum, William Burns Yochum, Ellen Paige Burns (Shane Sikes) James Dutton Burns (Whitney), Taylor Granger (Josh), Tanner Tibbs (Victoria Swihart) and Talon Tibbs; great-grandchildren, Amelia and Audrey Burns, Mia and Silas Burns, and Apollo Tibbs; and her late brother’s wife, Martine Mayhugh.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
