
GREENVILLE – Elnora Long Sherrod, 86, of Greenville, died Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 12PM at Greenville Nursing and Rehab in Greenville. Ms. Sherrod was born May 26, 1937 in Jefferson County. She was a retired Inspector for Flynn and was a member of Vernal Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was a seamstress and quilter, and loved making quilts for her children and their families. She loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Katie and Carley Johnston (she was raised by and blessed to have Carley as a second father); daughter, Libby Cobb; husband, Forest Sherrod; son-in-law, Danny Edwards; sister, Mary Lou Wolfe; and father, Guy Elvin Groves.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Edwards, and Loretta (Lonnie) Drake; son, Brent (Tammy) Sherrod; son-in-law, Frankie Cobb; sisters, Dorothy (Ray) Boggess, and Sandra (Rick) Carringer; brothers, Tommy (Janice) Groves, Carl (Wanda) Johnston, and Wayne Johnston; nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Scotty Cobb, Derrick (Jennifer) Cobb, Shannon Sherrod, Jordan (Cheri) Sherrod, Brent Sherrod II, Dannielle (Mark) Gibson, Ethan (Tiffany) McIntosh, and Jeremy (Lisa) Cobb; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 11AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bro. Nick Holeman officiating. Burial in Green’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
