Steve Rice 69, of Central City, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Riverside Care and Rehabilitation Center in Calhoun. Steven Harold Rice was born October 3, 1954 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Clarence William and Shirley Joyce Mabrey Rice and was married to the former Bonnie Regina Cottrell on March 25, 2021. Known affectionately as Steve, he was a man of integrity, warmth, and deep family values. His life was a testament to the strength of character and the joy of giving.

Steve’s journey began as a young man in Evansville, where his sense of duty and service led him to enlist in the U.S. Army. His time in the military imbued him with a sense of discipline and pride that he carried with him throughout his life. After his honorable discharge, Steve returned to his roots and built a life that reflected his love for his country and his community.

As a retired laborer, Steve was known for his tireless work ethic and his commitment to excellence in all his endeavors. Steve’s dedication to his community was evident in his earlier involvement with New Harmony Baptist Church in Bremen.

An avid outdoorsman, Steve found solace and joy in the beauty of nature. His love for hunting and fishing was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his appreciation for the simple pleasures of life. The great outdoors was his sanctuary, a place where he could reflect, recharge, and revel in the tranquility of the natural world.

Steve’s role as a husband and brother was filled with moments of laughter, support, and unwavering love. His family will forever remember his generous heart and the comfort that his presence brought into their lives.

Steve is survived by his wife, Bonnie Rice; a sister, Vickie Whitaker (Terry) of Sacramento; several nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held at a later date. There will be no public visitation. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the arrangements for Steve’s family.
