
Mary Joan Clark, 94, of Owensboro, passed away on March 27, 2024. She was born June 17, 1929, in St. Joseph, Kentucky, to the late Durward John Clark and Mary Helen Head Clark. Joan graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy and Mercy School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio. She retired from the Surgical Group of Owensboro where she worked as a nurse and was a member of Immaculate Parish.
Joan was an avid quilter. She enjoyed completing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing Scrabble, and visiting with family and friends.
Along with her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her siblings, William T. Clark, Elizabeth Mattingly, Dennis Clark, and Gerald Leon Clark.
She is survived by her siblings, D.J. Clark, Anna Lou (Vic) Bergevin, and Nancy Marie (George) Walz; many nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Immaculate Parish. Burial to follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with prayers being said at 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory and again on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at Immaculate Parish.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made by memorial contribution to a Spiritual Bouquet in the form of Catholic Mass. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
