The Green River Area Development District is partnering with Poole’s Pharmacy in Owensboro to host a vaccine clinic from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. this Friday for people aged 55+ or with a disability. Poole’s Pharmacy staff will also be available to verbally assess participants for eligibility to have a colorectal screening kit sent to their homes.

Poole’s Pharmacy is located at 4333 Springhill Drive. Vaccine recipients will receive a $20 gift card.

“GRADD is excited to offer another vaccine clinic partner through the USAging’s Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative,” said Amber Gebhard, GRADD’s Community Services Manager. “We are also really thrilled that Poole’s Pharmacy is providing colorectal cancer screening in conjunction with the clinic.”

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Colorectal cancer is the fourth most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death, according to a release from GRADD. However, with early detection, colorectal cancer is preventable and treatable. According to the American Cancer Society, one-third of eligible adults are not up to date with colorectal cancer screening.
