Blake Worthington now makes music in Chattanooga, Tennessee, but the singer knows he’s not “too far gone” to pay homage to his hometown. The singer-songwriter has a new album, with one of the tracks recounting his fond memories of Owensboro.

In Worthington’s lead single “Too Far Gone” — which is also the name of the album — he sings about what he expected for himself for the current chapter of his life and if he was straying from that, a feeling that he thinks many can relate to.

“I was still writing music every day, and eventually, I just questioned if I was too far removed from putting out music and writing new things or if something was holding me back. Then I realized the only thing holding me back was myself,” Worthington said.

Worthington then realized that you can’t quit what you haven’t started, nor turn off what you never turned on, so he found the motivation in himself to continue making music and making that path for himself.

And that motivation started in Owensboro, Kentucky.

A proud native of the self-proclaimed Bluegrass Capital of the World, Worthington writes in his bio that he got much of his musical foundation from his time in Owensboro. Growing up in Utica, he said Owensboro has always been supportive and he finds that rather lucky.

“I think they really get behind the youth, and they understand the importance of family and a town that will come out and support you,” Worthington said.

His music, as he describes, favors some elements of bluegrass and classic country, but at its core focuses on rock and indie influences. Worthington draws inspiration from artists such as Tom Petty, Wilco, and the Old 97s.

Worthington said listeners can expect another single to drop between now and the album’s July release. On the album, he sings about different themes and snapshots from his life that listeners may be able to relate to.

“I cover everything from feeling like you’re too far gone to take your first step to be where you thought you’d be to that feeling like things are right in line with your life,” Worthington said. “The album also deals with themes of love and loss and healing, so just snapshots of my life.”

The album is set to be released on July 12 on all music streaming platforms. For more information on Worthington, click here.
