Gary Wayne Brown, 79, of Owensboro, passed away February 22, 2024 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky surrounded by family. He was born August 22, 1944 in Jefferson County to the late Melvin and Ruth Vaughn Brown. Gary was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He retired from Unisys Corporation after 36 years. Gary started Gary’s Painting after retirement where he enjoyed meeting new people and truly loved his new found passion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Terry Brown and Melvin Brown; and a sister, Shelia Creech.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Lou Brown; two daughters, Tammy (David) Gough and Teri (Eric) Fulkerson; grandchildren, Hunter Williams, Ashley Gough, Harrison Williams, Wyatt Fulkerson, and Kaylee Fulkerson; and sisters, Brenda (Gary) Lyons, Rita Bonn, and Nita (Steve) Lykins.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory and from 9:00am until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church.
