Edward J. “Ed” Moore

Edward J. “Ed” Moore, born Jan 9th 1936, age 88, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Feb 5th, 2024. He and his wife lived most of their lives in Washington state where they raised their family and made many fond memories.

In 2023 he and his wife Janet moved to Kentucky to be close to their son. They attend Lewisport Baptist Church. They previously attended Dungeness Community Church for 37 years, in Sequim, Washington

Ed grew up in Western Pennsylvania where he enjoyed hunting and fishing and helped on the family farm. In 1955 Ed joined the Air Force where he worked as a radar electrician on the EC-121 Airborne Early Warning planes. He left the Air Force in 1959. He married Janet Matney in Mountain View, California on August 21st 1960.

Ed worked in California for Lockheed and Philco-Ford during the space program. In 1969 Ed made a career change leaving California to go to work for the Washington State Fisheries. He retired from the Department of Fisheries after 23 years of raising salmon earning the rank of Hatchery Manager.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vessie and Lena Moore; son, Victor Allen Moore; brothers, Albert and Wilbur Moore; sister, Louella Campbell.

Ed loved the Lord, his family, animals of all kinds and being outdoors. He leaves behind his wife, Janet, of 63 years; two children, Brad (Anna) Moore of Hawesville, KY, Wendy (Mike) Payne of Washington State; Grandchildren Korena (Sam) Payne, Cory (Rachelle) Payne, Joshua Moore, Jennalee (Glenn) Baker, and Johnluc Moore; Great granddaughters Addilyn and Elise along with several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at a later date. Gibson & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with care. Memorial donations may be made to Living Waters International, http://www.livingwatersinternational.org/.
