The preliminary round for Swimming and Diving Regionals begins today at Bowling Green High School, and there are lots of top seeded talent among the Owensboro schools. Apollo, Daviess County, Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic all have top swimmers and divers who are expected to do great things in Region 2.
AHS
Apollo has two swimmers and one diver seeded in the top 5 in four different events.
- Emmitt Brock (junior) is seeded 3rd in the 100 Yard Butterfly and 4th in the 50 Yard Freestyle.
- Olivia Esposito (sophomore) is seeded 2nd in 1m Diving.
- Anne Ladnier (freshman) is seeded 5th in the 500 Yard Freestyle.
- Reese Wethington (senior) and Keaton Boling (freshman) are both ranked in the top 10 in their respective events.
DCHS
Daviess County’s city-county champion Ryleigh Bevil is seeded 1st overall in the 200 IM and the 100 Yard Breaststroke. DCHS head coach Jordan Loucks is confident the 8th grader will bring home the gold in both events.
OHS
Owensboro has 4 swimmers who are seeded in the top 5 of their respective events. They also have a relay team who are seeded in the top 10. Owensboro’s star diver Georgia Warren has had a long career of success in diving as she has a long-standing win streak across all competitions, and hopes to make it to the state competition for the 6th year in a row.
- The Boys 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team is seeded 7th. This team consists of Ethan Lippert, Nash Miller, Camden Johnson and Max Baur. Dawson Strobel and Dakota Joachin are alternates.
- Georgia Warren is seeded 1st for the 1m Springboard Diving.
- Max Baur is seeded 6th for the Boys 200 Yard Freestyle.
- Lucy Whitaker is seeded 8th for the Girls 50 Yard Freestyle.
- Ethan Lippert is seeded 5th for the Boys 50 Yard Freestyle.
- Lucy Whitaker is seeded 5th for the Girls 100 Yard Butterfly.
- Max Baur is seeded 5th for the Boys 100 Yard Butterfly.
- Ethan Lippert is seeded 4th for the Boys 100 Yard Backstroke.
- Dawson Strobel is seeded 12th for the Boys 100 Yard Breaststroke.
OCHS
Owensboro Catholic has three swimmers seeded in the top 5, and four other swimmers seeded in the top 10 across five different events.
- Rayanne Howard (senior) is seeded 7th for the 200 Yard Freestyle.
- Leo Padgett (senior) is seeded 5th for the 200 Yard Freestyle and 7th for the 50 Yard Freestyle.
- Evlyn Zborowski (7th grade) is seeded 3rd for the 200 IM and 6th for the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
- Ben Johnson (senior) is seeded 6th for the 50 Yard Freestyle and 4th for the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
- Bellah Bowman (7th grade) is seeded 4th 100 Yard Butterfly and 3rd for the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
- Emily Hayden (junior) is seeded 8th for the 100 Yard Butterfly.
- Vince Coyne (7th grade) is seeded 7th for the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
