Gaye Johnson 54, of Island, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024 in Livermore. Angela Gaye Quinn was born October 4, 1969 in Owensboro, Kentucky. Gaye was a beacon of kindness and gentleness throughout her life, touching the hearts of everyone she met.

In 1988, Gaye graduated from McLean County High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for her future. On December 9, 1989, Gaye was married to Christopher DeWayne Johnson, with whom she built a beautiful family.

Gaye was deeply rooted in her community and dedicated over 20 years of service as a kitchen manager at Livermore Elementary School. She was more than an employee; she was a friend and a motherly figure to the students. Gaye knew each child by name and treated them with the same love and care as if they were her own. Her presence in the school was a comforting constant, and her absence will be profoundly felt by students and colleagues alike.

Outside of her professional life, Gaye was an active member of the Island Baptist Church, where she found spiritual solace and a second family. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, providing strength and purpose. Gaye’s interests extended to the sports fields and courts where she cheered on her children, nieces and nephews with unwavering support. She relished the time spent with her family and friends, and her granddaughters were the recipients of her boundless affection and attention.

Her gentle spirit and kindness radiated throughout her community, making her a cherished figure to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Gaye’s life was a testament to love, service, and the simple joy of being present for one another. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all the lives she touched.

Gaye was preceded in death by her father, Charles Quinn; her mother and second father, Gloria and Major Ball; and two brothers-in-law, Eric Chambers and Tracy Johnson.

Gaye is survived by her husband of 34 years, Chris Johnson; a son, Sam Johnson (Hannah Millay) of Owensboro; a daughter, Sarah Johnson of Island; three granddaughters, Hailyn, Harlow and Hillie; a brother, Major Eric Ball of Livermore; three sisters, Tonya Fulkerson (Steve), her twin, Kaye Brewer both of Sacramento and Contessa Chambers of Calhoun; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in the Island Baptist Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Gaye’s family from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Musters in Livermore.
