Daviess County took down Webster County to take their win streak to 8 in a row while Trinity were defeated by regional opponents McLean County.
DCHS 62, Webster Co. 51
Kennedy Lane’s 17 point performance not only led Daviess County to a 62-51 victory over Webster, but also to their 8th consecutive win on their hot streak.
Both offenses got into motion early on as the first quarter saw DCHS make 3 threes on their way to a 17-11 lead. They kept up their momentum as Lane made 3 of the team’s 5 threes in the second quarter to help outscore Webster 19-14 and give the Lady Panthers a 36-25 lead at halftime. Daviess County came out in the second half eager to extend their lead as they made 2 more threes to outscore Webster 18-10. DC were held to just 8 points in the final quarter while Webster scored 16, but the game was out of reach for them as DCHS got the win at 61-51.
Lane’s 17 points and 5 three pointers led the Lady Panthers in scoring. Zoey Beehn followed behind with 11 points and 1 three pointer. Lily Hoagland made 2 threes as part of her 10 points on the night as well.
McLean Co. 53, THS 37
Trinity played in a regional matchup against McLean County that saw the Lady Raiders suffer a 53-37 defeat.
Trinity were caught up by McLean’s defense early on as they trailed 20-8 at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Raiders defense was more successful in the second quarter as McLean scored 13, and their offense was right behind them as they scored 9 in the quarter to go into halftime trailing 33-17. The third quarter saw both teams struggle to get past the other on defense as Trinity outscored McLean 8-6. Both teams made a final offensive in the fourth as Trinity scored 12 to McLean’s 14, but the gap in the scoreline remained and Trinity were defeated 53-37.
Leading the Lady Raiders in scoring was Sarah Payne with 14 points and 3 of 4 on free throws. Kenzie McDowell made 8 out of 10 free throws as part of her 10 points on the night as well.
