
Joseph Pete Scott, 70, of Owensboro, passed away on January 26, 2024, at his home. He was born July 15, 1953, in Tell City, Indiana. He retired, after 25 years, as the owner and operator of Custom Car Stereo.
Pete was a family man who took great pride in taking care of them. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and Mustangs. Pete was a jack-of-all-trades who excelled in everything he did. He loved sitting out back and watching the wildlife, especially his special raccoon friend, Blackey.
Pete was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Early, and his siblings, Jerry Dycus, Diane Stevenson, and Vicki Early.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Brenda Fairchild Scott; his children, Chris (Amber) Minton, David Scott, Brian Scott, and Ricky (Dayna) Scott; his grandchildren, K.C. Scott, Zac Scott, Brady Belcher, Cody Scott, Christopher Scott, Carly Scott and Emilee Minton; his brother, Tommy (Michelle) Dycus; and his sisters-in-law, Donna Warner and Ann Whalen.
Services will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, and again on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
The family would like to give special thanks to Pete’s caregivers, Donna Warner and Robin Ramburger, for providing their love and support, all of the blood donors in our community, as well as Dr. Hodskins and his staff, and the Nurses and Doctors of Owensboro Health, who always made Pete feel like a rockstar.
