
John R. “Bob” Edwards, 85, of Lewisport, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born July 18, 1933 in Daviess Co. to the late Robert Lee and Pearlie Duncan Edwards. Bob was retired from Green River Steel as an instrument repair technician and was a member of Owensboro Christian Church. He was a member of the Ensor Masonic Lodge, was a Shriner and member of the Rizpah Temple. Bob was a longtime member of the Daviess Co. Fish and Game and enjoyed fishing. He loved working on cars and old tractors and was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was also preceded in death by his wonderful wife of 60 years, Betty Edwards on March 22, 2015, a granddaughter, April McLimore on August 24, 2017, and a son-in-law, Clifford Yeager on June 13, 2016.
Surviving are his daughter, Pam Yeager of Lewisport, two sons, Michael Edwards and wife Susan of Philpot and Robby Edwards and wife Michelle of Owensboro, seven grandchildren, Matt Edwards of Owensboro, Andrew Edwards of Concord, N.C., David Edwards and Rachel Edwards, both of Philpot, Edward D. McLimore, Jr. of Lewisport, Amanda Morley and Chris Yeager, both of Evansville, 23 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and two sisters, Sandra Miller and husband Kirk and Mary Katherine Woodward, all of Owensboro.
The funeral service for Bob Edwards will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 27, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Iron Ore Hill Cemetery in Daviess Co with full military honors. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after Noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
