Daviess County and Trinity both had blowout victories while Apollo suffered a loss on the road.
Breckinridge Co. 55, AHS 27
Apollo traveled to Breckinridge and suffered a tough 55-27 loss.
AHS struggled in the opening quarter as they trailed 14-5 going into the second. The E-gals pushed back in the second quarter with 9, but Breckinridge held the momentum as they scored 10 to keep their lead at 24-14. Apollo struggled offensively in the second half as they were held to just 13 points while Breckinridge extended their lead. The game ended 55-27.
Jennifer Lee led the E-gals in scoring with a double-double of 12 points and an impressive 15 rebounds. Jenna Dant followed behind with 9 points and 11 rebounds on the night.
DCHS 63, Union Co. 27
Daviess County found success on the road after a 63-27 blowout victory over Union County.
The game started with both teams finding rhythm on offense early as DC had just a 14-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. Daviess County held Union to 4 points in the second quarter while they extended their lead to 10 points at 25-15. The Lady Panthers ran away with the lead in the third quarter as they had 4 threes as part of their 23 points while they held Union to just 6. They didn’t let up in the final quarter and outscored Union 15-6 to close the game out at 63-27.
Leading the Lady Panthers in scoring was Kennedy Lane with 20 points. Emme Roberts and Lily Hoagland followed behind with 13 and 11 points respectively.
THS 58, Dawson Springs 12
Sarah Payne had a 23-point performance in Trinity’s big 58-12 victory at home over Dawson Springs.
They quickly commanded the game as Payne’s 9 points helped THS gain a 16-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Raiders ran away with the lead in the second quarter after outscoring Dawson 20-4 to go into halftime with a 36-9 lead. Trinity continued to dominate in the second half as they scored another 22 points while holding Dawson to only 3 points across the third and fourth quarter. The final score was 58–12.
The Lady Raiders had nearly every player on their team score throughout their massive win. Payne’s 23 points and 4 three pointers led the team in scoring. Kenzie McDowell had the next highest points with 10.
