
George was a passionate pastor and cared deeply about the needs of all people. His favorite pastime was fishing, but more importantly he was a “fisher of men” (Matthew 4:19).
Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Delores Brown Tichenor; three children, Carol (Dennis) Vice of Owensboro, Greg (Eugenia) Tichenor of Seneca, South Carolina and Paul (Mary) Tichenor of Walhalla, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Jeremy (Tracy) Tichenor of Walhalla, Ben Tichenor of Seneca, and Brynn (Derrick) Durham of Piedmont, South Carolina; six step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by three brothers, William B. Tichenor, Philip B. Tichenor, Everett L. Tichenor; three sisters, Helen Rouse, Mary Zoeller, and Margaret Matthews; one step-grandson and one step-great-grandson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and after 12 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Private family burial will be at Centertown Cemetery.
