Boys’ Basketball recap (Jan. 13): OCHS, THS

Owensboro Catholic are on a 9-game winning streak after taking down Station Camp (Gallatin), TN in the Gary Force Honda Clash at the Swamp. Trinity was also defeated on the road against Edmonson County. 

OCHS 69, Station Camp (Gallatin), TN 53

Luke Bieckman was named player of the game after a 29-point performance in Owensboro Catholic’s 69-53 win over Station Camp in the Gary Force Honda Clash at the Swamp at Greenwood. 

OCHS commanded the first half as they outscored Station Camp 15-8 in the first quarter and 16-7 in the second quarter. Bieckman scored 16 of his 29 points in the first half to help Catholic to a 31-15 lead at halftime. Station Camp pushed back in the second half as they kept up with OCHS in scoring in the third quarter. Station scored 21 points to Catholic’s 19 to put the score at 50-36 going into the fourth quarter. The scoring battle continued as Catholic outscored Station Camp 19-17 in the final quarter to close out the game at 69-53. 

Beickman’s 29 points led the Aces in scoring, and he shot 5 of 8 from the free throw line. Solly Smith had the next highest points with 18. 

Edmonson Co. 65, THS 37

Trinity suffered a 65-37 defeat on the road against Edmonson County. 

Trinity started out strong in the first quarter as they held a 20-15 lead going into the second quarter. THS struggled to score in the second quarter as they were held to 3 points. The Raiders trailed 35-23 at halftime. The second wasn’t as kind to the Raiders as they scored 14 points in the second half while Edmonson extended their lead to close the game out at 65-37. 

Leading the Raiders in scoring was Hayden Aull with 14 points and 3 three-pointers. Cale Boarman and Connor Hatfield both had 7 points each as well.
