Apollo got back to winning fashion after taking down Ohio County, and Daviess County had a comfortable win on the road against Muhlenberg County.
AHS 32, Ohio Co. 29
Apollo secured a 32-29 win at home after coming out on top of a close battle with Ohio County.
Both teams were evenly matched starting out as the first quarter ended 8-8. AHS were outscored 9-5 in the second quarter to give Ohio a 17-13 lead going into halftime. The E-gals went into the second half determined to take back the lead as they outscored Ohio 10-5 in the third quarter to have a 1-point lead going into the fourth. AHS closed out the narrow 32-29 win by keeping the lead just out of reach for Ohio by scoring 9 points to their 7.
Leading the E-gals in scoring was Jenna Dant with 8 points as well as having 13 rebounds. Taray Thompson followed close behind with 7 points and 8 rebounds. Liz Gardner and Jennifer Lee had 6 points each, and Lee had 9 rebounds to go with her point total. Aubrey Johnson rounded out the scoring with 5 points and 6 rebounds.
DCHS 61, Muhlenberg Co. 41.
Daviess County had no trouble taking down Muhlenberg 61-41 on the road.
Daviess County quickly took command of the game as they held a 19-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. Muhlenberg began to push back in the second quarter by scoring 14 points, but Daviess County stayed ahead through their sharp offense that scored 19 to give them a 37-22 lead at halftime. After being outscored 14-12 in the third quarter, DCHS held Muhlenberg to just 5 points in the final quarter to close out the game at 61-41.
Leading the Lady Panthers in scoring was Zoey Beehn with an impressive 23 points and high FT% shooting 5 of 6 from the line. Lily Hoagland followed behind with 15 points along with 5 steals on defense. Kennedy Lane had 2 three-pointers as part of her 12 points on the night as well.
