Daviess County and Owensboro both found success on the road while Trinity suffered a tough loss on the road against Calloway County.
DCHS 65, Lyon Co. 53
Kennedy Lane scored 22 points in Daviess COunty’s 65-53 win over Lyon County. DC got off to a slow start as they trailed 13-9 at the end of the first quarter. They came back strong in the second quarter and outscored Lyon 16-8 to take the lead at halftime at 25-21. The Lady Panthers held onto their lead in the third quarter, and finished out the game strong as they ran away with the lead after Lane’s 10 points and Lily Hoagland’s 9 points helped close the game out at 65-53.
Lane’s 22 points led the Lady Panthers in scoring. Hoagland followed behind with 14 points. Zoey Beehn had a big game on offense and defense as she recorded 14 points, 16 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks on the night.
OHS 57, Muhlenberg 32
Owensboro had no trouble taking down Muhlenberg 57-32 on the road. Owensboro immediately had control over the game as they held a 19-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Red Devils quickly overwhelmed Muhlenberg as they scored 21 points in the second quarter while holding Muhlenberg to just 4 points. After holding them to just 4 points again in the third quarter, Owensboro closed out the win at 57-32.
Leading the Lady Red Devils in scoring was Heleina John with 12 points and 2 three pointers. Unique carter-Swanagan followed behind with 11 points. Abby Sapp nearly scored in double digits as well with 9 points during the game.
Calloway Co. 71, THS 41
Trinity had a tough 71-41 defeat on the road against Calloway County. An early three pointer by Kenzie McDowell helped Trinity score 6 in the first quarter, but they trailed 15-6 going into the second. THS found their rhythm in the second quarter after scoring 14 points, but Calloway still went into halftime with the advantage at 34-20. Trinity struggled to keep up with Calloway in scoring in the second half, and they couldn’t claw their way back before the game ended 71-41.
McDowell led the Lady Raiders in scoring with 19 points and shot 3 of 4 from the free throw line. Sarah Payne and Ella Morris followed behind with 7 points each.
