
GREENVILLE, KY., Hollis G. Hancock, Sr., 99, of Greenville passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Heartford House in Owensboro, KY. He was born in Powderly on June 20, 1924 the son of Gurden James Hancock and Bertha Mae Cobb. He was a business owner in Greenville, the proprietor of Greenville Pool Hall and Greenville Ice Company.
He was an Army veteran in World War II, having received two Bronze Stars, and he also served in the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Margaret Lee Vick Hancock, his second wife Mary Lou Dukes Wells Hancock, his son Hollis Hancock, Jr., a son-in-law Delbert Willis, and a grandson Ricky Gregory.
He is survived by 2 daughters Mary Ethel Willis of Jacksonville, FL. and Debbie (Kurt) Reesman of Auburn AL., 8 grandchildren Wilda (Rick) Caudle, Lori Cheanvechai, Jeff (Donna) Willis, Jacque (Mark) Fuller, Ami (Shannon) Vincent, Brian (Julie) Hancock, Emily (Micah) Brake, and Michelle Gregory, 25 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, 2 step-daughters Karen (Bobby) Noffsinger of Greenville and Renita Wells of Greenville, and 1 brother Jerry (Linda) Hancock of Powderly.
There will be no visitation.
Private graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. Gary’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Muhlenberg County Humane Society or Hospice of Western Kentucky.
