
Robert “Rob” Craig Brown, 46, of Owensboro passed away due to injuries sustained in a car accident on December 27, 2023. He was born October 18, 1977, to the late Craig Anthony Brown and Rebecca Whittaker Brown. Rob was a 1996 graduate of Apollo High School and had attended USI.
He was employed at Precoat Metals in Hawesville and had previously worked at Kroger for 20 years. He was an avid Miami Hurricanes and UK basketball fan. He loved golfing with friends and playing cards. He was a loving father to his son, Anthony, whom he enjoyed going to the movies with. He also loved soccer and was a great youth soccer coach volunteering to coach his niece & nephew’s soccer teams several years ago. He had recently been talked out of coaching retirement and had planned to coach his other niece’s soccer team next fall.
Besides his father, Robert was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jan and Del Brown, and his maternal grandparents, who raised Rob from his early teenage years, Robert & Mary Lou “Wheezy” Whittaker.
In addition to his mother, Rob is survived by his son, Anthony Edwin Trogden-Brown; Anthony’s mother, Megan Trogden; Anthony’s brother, Korbin Trogden-Hendricks; his step-mother Amy Brown Sullivan; step-brother, Kenneth Hannah; nieces, Lydea Dickens-Howard, Loralei Dickens, Emma Ashworth, Grace Ashworth, Karli Trogden, and Alissa Trogden; nephews, Luke Dickens, Lane Dickens, Lance, Dicken, Denver Dickens, Hunter Ashworth, Ethan Ashworth, Isaiah Ashworth, and Brandon Trogden; aunt, Candy (Ed) Ramsey; uncles, Terry (Dawn) Brown and David Brown; cousins, Michelle and Steven; and his dog, Beckham. Along with lots of extended family & friends who loved him like a brother and uncle. He was also survived by many more aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and golfing buddies, including Scott, Josh, Kevin, John, Rick, John, Jeff, and Shane; neighbors, John (Loretta) Maglinger, and Pam Morris. Rob was a great father, son, friend, and uncle, he will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Anthony’s education fund in the care of April Dickens. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
