
Melvin I. Connor, 92, of Stanley, Kentucky passed away December 19, 2023, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born July 9, 1931, in Stanley to the late Guy and Winona Elder Connor. Melvin was an Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. He retired from Whirlpool where he worked as a machinist. Melvin was a member of Immaculate Parrish, V.F.W. Post 696, and American Legion Post 9.
Melvin enjoyed fishing and playing poker with his friends. He also enjoyed meeting his friends at Moonlight BBQ and would often help with catering there as well.
Along with his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his siblings, Irvin Connor and Louise Pruden, and granddaughter, Taylor Johansen.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Lois Belcher Connor; children, Debbie (Phillip) Bell, Becky (Ron) Kaelin, Kathy (Denny) Johansen, and Stephanie (Charlie) Sweeney; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Charles Connor, Gilbert Connor, Guy Connor, Darrell Connor, and Mildred Rhoades.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Immaculate Parrish. Burial to follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with prayers being said at 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory and again on Friday, December 22, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at Immaculate Parrish.
