Maggie Juanita Rusher, 90, of Owensboro, passed away December 17, 2023 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born January 22, 1933 in Ohio County, Kentucky to the late Ralph and Nellie Evans Walker. In her early years, she worked at General Electric Company. Maggie and her husband, J.P., founded J.P. Rusher Construction Company in 1970 where she also worked as the business manager until 2008. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Maggie enjoyed sewing, reading, working word search puzzles, watching the Wheel of Fortune and spectator sports.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James Phillip “J.P.” Rusher; an infant son, Jason Scott Rusher; and a sister, Bonita Boling.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila (Gary) Best of Roswell, Georgia, Sharon (Maurice) Abney of Owensboro, Sandra (Dan) Thomas of Owensboro; four grandchildren, Kristin (Chris) Heath of Atlanta Georgia, Aaron (Kristen) Thomas of Louisville, Rachel (Kevin) Healy of San Diego, California, Megan (McKae) Maddox of Owensboro; and seven great- grandchildren, Colin and Caleb Heath, Olivia, Winston, and Lyle Thomas, Chloe Healy, and Sutton Maddox.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation is from 12:30 p.m. until time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
